On February 3, in Dac Loc village, Vinh Phuong commune, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho". More than 500 delegates attended the launching ceremony.
Here, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized that climate change is becoming increasingly complex and threatening the sustainable development not only of Khanh Hoa but also of the whole country.
More than ever, promoting forest development and planting more trees is an effective solution, an important and urgent action to ensure sustainable socio-economic and environmental development of Khanh Hoa province.
The Resolution of the 18th Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, sets the target of forest coverage in the province reaching 46.5% by 2025. To achieve this target, one of the key solutions is to increase the area of planted forests and scattered trees.
Therefore, the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee called on and requested Party committees at all levels, departments, branches, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, political organizations of the province, districts, towns and cities to propagate to the people in many forms about the purpose and meaning of the tree planting festival, the great role and long-term benefits of planting trees and afforestation. From there, organize and launch tree planting ceremonies in accordance with the conditions of the locality, agency or unit effectively and economically.
"I believe that this year's spring tree planting festival will be a good new start for the tree planting and forest planting movement, contributing to building Khanh Hoa into a green, clean and beautiful city," said Mr. Tuan.
After the launching ceremony, delegates planted 500 black star trees on an area of 5,000 square meters of bare hills in Vinh Phuong commune.
In 2024, Khanh Hoa province planted more than 823,000 new scattered trees and nearly 500 hectares of concentrated forests. The province's forest cover in 2024 reached 45.86%, an increase of 0.28% compared to 2023.
