On November 6, Mr. Lu Quang Ngoi, Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, was present at the scene to direct the repair after the landslide on August 10 at the Giao Hoa river embankment project to prevent erosion, Chau Thanh hamlet, Giao Long commune, causing a section of the embankment about 30 m long to be completely damaged.
The incident caused subsidence and cracking of the concrete road surface, affecting traffic and people's lives, with estimated damage of more than 2 billion VND.
In the face of complicated landslides, with the risk of spreading, causing flooding of about 43 hectares of agricultural land, affecting 247 houses with nearly 805 people and a high school, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province has declared a state of emergency for this area.

At the survey, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the Giao Hoa riverbank area is vulnerable, the risk of landslides is still high, and needs to be closely monitored.
He requested relevant departments and branches to promptly implement procedures and solutions to build works, limit the spread of landslides, and ensure people's lives.
The provincial chairman also requested units to study, closely monitor developments, and propose solutions suitable to actual terrain conditions, in order to achieve long-term efficiency and sustainability.
Notably, in the face of rising high tides and possible deep digging of landslides, Mr. Lu Quang Ngoi noted that localities need to closely monitor and proactively monitor vehicles and human resources according to the "4 on-site" motto.
"The government needs to inform promptly and warn people to deploy response measures to ensure the safety of life and property," Mr. Ngoi emphasized this content.
