Vinh Long - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee surveyed the landslides of the Giong Ban sea dike, requesting urgent implementation of the protection project.

On November 5, Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee had a field survey on the landslide situation at the Giong Ban sea dike, Long Vinh commune - a project under the management of the Ministry of National Defense.

Here, the leader of Long Vinh commune reported that the entire Giong Ban sea dike is facing serious landslides. The entire Giong Ban hamlet has an area of 877.46 hectares with 267 households, of which the length is at risk of landslides along the entire route up to 3km, directly affecting 45 households on an area of 36.5 hectares.

The 1,100m section alone has 21 households severely affected, while the remaining 410m of landslides are very serious, people cannot reinforce themselves. The People's Committee of Vinh Long province has declared a state of emergency in this area.

Mr. Duong Thanh Sang (born in 1978, living in Long Vinh commune) said that his family has been involved in shrimp farming for more than 20 years, but for about 3 years now, landslides have become increasingly serious.

"The total area of land in my house has been lost to more than 20,000m2, causing many shrimp ponds to drift away, causing my income to decrease by about 3040% compared to before," said Mr. Sang.

Mr. Minh Hung, a resident of the same commune, said that he currently has to hang up a pond because more than 3,000m2 of protective land for shrimp ponds has been lost. "The remaining land is close to the coast, I do not dare to raise, I will wait until this high tide is over to see the situation before considering further," he shared.

Ms. Thai Thi My Dung - Secretary of the Long Vinh Commune Party Committee said that the commune has mobilized local forces to temporarily reinforce, put up warning signs of danger and mobilized people to evacuate from high-risk areas.

At the same time, the locality has reported to the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Agriculture and Environment and specialized sectors to promptly construct the embankment according to Decision 1716/QD-UBND dated October 14, 2025 of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on declaring an emergency situation for coastal erosion in Giong Ban hamlet.

"The locality is currently waiting for investment capital from the province to soon construct the embankment to overcome the problem, ensuring the safety of people", Ms. Dung added.
