On June 3, the Investment and Construction Management Board of Irrigation 7 (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) is implementing procedures and dossiers to prepare for the commencement of construction of the Ia Thul water reservoir project in Ia Tul and Ia Rsai communes, Gia Lai province.
When the project is completed and put into operation, Ia Thul reservoir and Ia Mor reservoir (Ia Mor border commune, with an investment capital of over 3,000 billion VND) will be the two leading large-scale and capacity irrigation projects in the Central - Central Highlands region.
Currently, the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 7 is organizing the implementation of items such as terrain and geological surveys; preparing technical designs and construction drawings; planting land clearance markers; clearing bombs and mines, explosives; building hydraulic models...
After completing the inventory and handover of the site, it is expected that by 2027 the project will be implemented on the ground.

According to the design, the Ia Thul reservoir has a capacity of 83 million m3, providing irrigation water for 8,600 hectares of agricultural land and domestic water for about 28,500 people.
At the same time, the project contributes to improving the ecological environment and reducing floods for downstream areas. The total estimated investment is more than 4,000 billion VND.
Previously, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee had a submission requesting the Provincial People's Council to decide on the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes to implement the Ia Thul reservoir project.
