On June 29, An Giang Provincial People's Council held the 3rd session (Specialized Session) of the 11th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031. At the session, 19 draft resolutions were approved with many important contents.
Including the draft Resolution Deciding on the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes to implement the Project of Investing in the construction of a Bridge on the coastal road connecting An Bien - Rach Gia city (now Tay Yen commune - Rach Gia ward).
The area approved for the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes is 9.4 ha; the type of forest is protection forest. The forest area is located in the TY Sub-zone in Tay Yen commune, An Bien district, Kien Giang province (now Tay Yen commune, An Giang province).

According to An Giang Provincial People's Committee, the necessity of investing in the project is to gradually complete the coastal road, connecting inter-regions through Rach Gia, An Bien district (old) to Ca Mau; reduce the load on the current transportation system, especially through Minh Luong town (now Chau Thanh commune), through the Cai Be, Cai Lon bypass section (coastal corridor road); create conditions to expand urban space, promote socio-economic development of An Giang province.
Gradually completing the road network planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister; Kien Giang province planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister; Mekong Delta region planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister; general construction planning for Rach Gia city (now Rach Gia ward), An Bien district planning to promote socio-economic development of An Giang province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general.
According to the Department of Construction of An Giang province, the project has a total investment of 3,900 billion VND. The project uses provincial budget capital, is implemented from 2025 to 2029, has a scale of 6 lanes with a total length of 3,500m, including a bridge over 2 estuary gates Cai Lon, Cai Be, with a length of 1,440m, a river branch overpass 156m long, connecting road sections and auxiliary works such as drainage system, artistic lighting, sea viewing landscape, intersections, ensuring traffic safety, and other auxiliary works.
The project is identified as one of the strategically significant projects, connecting the coastal road, connecting the inter-regional An Giang and Ca Mau, creating new impetus for socio-economic development, responding to climate change, making an important contribution to ensuring security and defense, opening up a development space towards the West Sea for the province and being the gateway connecting the Mekong Delta region, and the basis for marine economic development.
