The National Election Council has just announced the list of people elected as National Assembly deputies of the 16th term. Among them, Lo Thi Bao Vy (born March 24, 2002) - a teacher at Quynh Lap A Primary School (Tan Mai ward, Nghe An) - was elected in constituency No. 1 of Nghe An province.
The young teacher is a child of Vang Mon village, Nga My commune, where the O Du people live concentrated with about 700 people - one of the fewest minority communities in Vietnam. The O Du ethnic group, also known as Tay Hat, belongs to the Mon - Khmer language group.

As the eldest sister in a family of 4 siblings, Bao Vy grew up in difficult circumstances. Her parents were farmers, doing small business, and at times had to work far away, Vy and her siblings lived with her paternal grandparents. During her high school years, she studied at boarding schools in the district and province, with state financial support.
Vy's dream of becoming a teacher has been cherished since childhood, which was also the unfinished dream of her mother in the past. In 2020, Vy was admitted to the Primary Education Pedagogy major, Vinh University. To help her family, she both studied and worked part-time at a restaurant, selling clothes and shoes.
Graduating in 2024 with a good degree, Vy taught under contract for a while before taking the civil servant exam and was admitted, and was assigned to Quynh Lap A Primary School from February 2025.

In the action program, Vy pays special attention to education development policies in remote and isolated areas, wishing all children to study safely and equally. She is also interested in preserving the language and culture of the Ơ Đu ethnic group that is gradually fading away.
Mr. Lo Thanh Nhat - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nga My commune - emphasized: "The election of teacher Lo Thi Bao Vy is a milestone for the O Du community. For a community of only a few hundred people, this is an unprecedented case".
The young teacher affirmed that she will continue to be dedicated to the teaching profession, accompany students in difficult areas and will arrange time to complete both tasks well.
