Nghe An A woman carrying two young children standing on the railing of Hieu 2 bridge that was about to commit suicide was promptly stopped by the police.

On May 3, information from Nghe An Provincial Police said that the police force working in Thai Hoa town had just discovered and successfully prevented a case of a person planning to jump off a bridge to commit suicide.

On the afternoon of May 1, 2025, while patrolling to ensure security and order in the area, Working Group 373 in coordination with the Traffic Team of Thai Hoa town, Nghe An province discovered a woman with unusual signs standing on the railing of Hieu 2 bridge (Long Son ward, Thai Hoa town), carrying two young children.

Recognizing that this was a dangerous situation, it was possible that the woman was planning to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge, the authorities immediately approached, questioned her and used gentle words to convince her.

After a period of mobilization, the woman agreed to leave the dangerous location and followed the working group to the headquarters. The authorities then handed over the woman and two young children to the family for care and monitoring.

According to initial sharing, the woman said that because she was upset about the family, she had a wild idea.

This case not only shows the vigilance and quick response of the police force in patrolling the area, but also emphasizes a very humane aspect of the people's police soldiers: protecting life, preserving trust and safety for the community.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - a local witness to the incident - shared: "Without timely police intervention, the consequences would be unpredictable. Sometimes just a thoughtful look, a word of encouragement at the right time saves an entire family".

Local people also expressed their appreciation for the working group's calm, skillful and responsible handling of situations.
