On December 19, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province announced a natural disaster emergency situation regarding the landslide at Con Cung bridge.
Due to the impact of storm No. 6 (TRAMI), at Ban Con Cung bridge (Kim Thuy commune, Le Thuy district), flood water rose, causing landslides and damage to the reinforced part of the M1 abutment cone and part of the embankment at the bridge head behind the abutment.
The embankment slope of about 75m upstream has eroded into the road body; the reinforced concrete bridge railing columns have cracked in some places; the riverbank slope upstream of the bridge has eroded with a length of about 270m.
The incident threatens or affects the safety of people and vehicles participating in traffic, and affects the safety of the construction.
The Provincial People's Committee requested to set up barricades and warnings of danger at the landslide site.
Arrange a temporary bridge across the landslide area to the top wall of pier M1. Arrange to weld 2 steel frames to control the clearance with a height limit of H=2.5m at the head of pier M1 and pier M2 to prevent rudimentary and motorized vehicles from crossing the bridge.
Arrange traffic cones, warning lines, and landslide signs at the bridgehead after pier M1 to ensure safety for people and non-motorized vehicles.
Urgently implement measures to solidly restore damaged structures to completely handle the risk of landslides, ensure safety for structures, and long-term safety for people and vehicles using traffic across the bridge.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the flood caused by storm No. 6 damaged the Con Cung bridge, causing landslides on two bridge piers, endangering people participating in traffic.
After discovering the incident, local authorities notified the people and banned vehicles and people from crossing the bridge; the Department of Transport of Le Thuy district came to inspect and find a solution.
