On November 16, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province announced that it had just issued a decision to declare an emergency situation regarding landslides and flash floods in Tan Ly village (Lam Thuy commune, Le Thuy district).
If heavy rain occurs in the coming time, there is a high risk of landslides and flash floods, directly affecting 17 households with 78 people, causing great damage to people and property in the village.
Previously, the impact of storm No. 6 (October 2024) and the flood after the storm, in the mountainous area after Tan Ly village, landslides and cracks occurred in some locations on the mountainside. The cracks were 0.5m to 1m wide and about 100m long.
This mountainous area has steep terrain and complex geology. The landslide is close to a residential area, about 15m from the nearest household and about 130m from the Tan Ly village cultural house. The flood also seriously eroded the stream bank near two houses near the overflow on the road to the Tan Ly village residential area.
Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee requested Le Thuy District People's Committee and relevant departments and branches to urgently relocate and evacuate all 15 households at the foot of the mountain and 2 households near the spillway in Tan Ly village that are at risk of being affected to a safe place when there is rain and flood.
At the same time, ensure food, foodstuffs, and essential necessities for people at the evacuation points. The district also continues to closely monitor weather, rain, floods, and landslides. Urgently implement structural or non-structural solutions to ensure long-term safety for residential areas.
In case of landslides or flash floods, prepare forces and means to respond; be on duty and put up danger warning signs, guide people and vehicles to ensure safety.
Propaganda to help people understand the risks of landslides, flash floods, and damage to structures, and proactively take response measures.
