On Highway 34 connecting Cao Bang with Ha Giang, many negative slopes have been severely eroded, dragging down part of the roadway. Some sections that were recently repaired have also been severely damaged by natural disasters. When the sun rises, the dry mountain soil creates a cloud of dust at the landslide sites.
In addition, 8 provincial roads in Cao Bang were also damaged by natural disasters and floods. Many landslides and landslides have damaged the roadbed and caused traffic jams. Some landslide areas are mountainous, with many cracks and hanging rocks on the slopes, loose soil, and are at risk of further landslides, threatening the safety of people and vehicles.
Faced with this situation, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province has decided to declare a natural disaster emergency in 2024 on a number of routes managed by the Department of Transport of Cao Bang province.
Accordingly, the Department of Transport of Cao Bang province is assigned to review and identify specific damaged locations on the roads and be responsible for repairing and ensuring traffic according to regulations.
The People's Committees of Bao Lac, Ha Lang, Trung Khanh, Thach An, Hoa An, Ha Quang, and Nguyen Binh districts are required to coordinate with relevant units to issue warnings, set up checkpoints, organize traffic flow, and implement measures to ensure traffic safety.
When detecting a traffic safety risk, it is necessary to immediately report to the Cao Bang Provincial Civil Defense and Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue Command, and at the same time perform other tasks as directed by competent authorities.
Upon completion of construction of emergency works to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of natural disasters according to emergency situations regarding natural disasters, advise the Provincial People's Committee as a basis for announcing the end of the emergency situation regarding natural disasters.
On November 4, speaking with reporters, Mr. Le Van Dinh - Director of the Department of Transport of Cao Bang province - said: "In the immediate future, the repair will be prioritized for National Highways 34 and 4A, and provincial roads will also be repaired as soon as possible.
