Urgently constructing to meet travel needs after provincial mergers
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B through Lam Dong province is about 69km long.
After the merger of provinces, the demand for travel from the old Binh Thuan to the administrative center of Lam Dong province (old Da Lat city) increased, especially for cadres, civil servants and workers.
Although there are many routes connecting Phan Thiet city (old) to Da Lat city (old), National Highway 28B is still the shortest and most convenient route. Therefore, the completion of upgrading this route is the desire of many people and forces working at the new administrative center.

Contractors are simultaneously implementing construction at many locations where the site has been handed over. On Dai Ninh Pass - a key section of the project - many construction teams are straightening the route, expanding the road surface at dangerous curves.
Some sections are carrying out roadbed items, repairing Dai Ninh bridge, Km10+600 bridge, casting concrete components, installing culverts and girders.
Workers work through the night
According to the reporter's records on Dai Ninh Pass at night, many construction teams took advantage of the time when there were few vehicles to bring machinery and vehicles to the construction site.
The lights are bright at the construction sites, dump trucks transporting soil and rocks, and road rollers are working continuously to treat the roadbed after leveling the cliff.
Since the beginning of June, this area has often had rain in the afternoon, so units have to make the most of the favorable weather both day and night, especially during the asphalt paving period.

The overpasses on the route are built to straighten the route and reduce the slope at the left-hand corners. Here, the bored piles are constructed 20-30m deep to ensure a solid structure, due to the complex geology of the pass area.
According to Project Management Board 5 (under the Vietnam Road Administration - the investor), the entire route is divided into 2 construction packages. Currently, the XD-01 package has reached more than 20% of the volume, the XD-02 package has reached more than 50%.
However, the overall progress is still affected because the entire clean site has not been handed over. The project management unit requested localities to promptly hand over the remaining area to speed up the progress, meeting people's expectations.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B has the starting point intersecting with National Highway 1 in Luong Son commune; the end point intersecting with National Highway 20 in Ninh Gia commune (Lam Dong province).
The total investment of the project is about 1,400 billion VND. According to the plan, the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
