According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, in the past few days, the Traffic Police - Order Team of Duc Tho District Police and Thach Ha District Police have been putting up signs with new fines according to Decree 168, effective from January 1, 2025, regarding violations of road traffic safety.
Fine signs are placed at traffic light locations. This helps people who are driving at red lights to read and receive information about the new fines according to Decree 168 of 2024 when running red lights.
Specifically, for motorbikes, running a red light is subject to a fine of up to 6 million VND, and for cars, running a red light is subject to a fine of up to 20 million VND.
Lieutenant Colonel Diep Xuan Quyen - Captain of the Traffic Police - Order Team of Duc Tho District Police - said that, implementing the direction of Ha Tinh Provincial Police on strengthening propaganda so that people know the regulations of Decree 168 on the new very high fines for traffic safety violations, the unit has deployed signs showing the fines for running red lights at traffic light installation locations in the area.
To date, the unit has completed placing 12 penalty level signs at 3 traffic light cluster locations in the area.
“Our goal is to let people know about the new regulations with very high penalties. Thereby, they will comply well when participating in traffic. Avoiding violations will be handled with the prescribed penalties,” Lieutenant Colonel Diep Xuan Quyen shared.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Quyen, since Decree 168 took effect, traffic safety violations in general and red light violations in particular have decreased significantly.
Along with increased propaganda by the traffic police, it is believed that in the coming time, the number of red light violations will decrease significantly.
On January 1, Colonel Dang Hoai Son - Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Police - said that Ha Tinh Provincial Police have directed to strengthen the dissemination of Decree 168 on penalties for road traffic safety violations to the public so that people know and comply with the regulations when participating in traffic.
The fact that traffic police at some district-level units have deployed signs showing the fines for running red lights according to Decree 168 is also one of the ways to propagate to the people.
This will continue to be implemented by the units in the coming time to help people understand the new regulations, proactively avoid violations to avoid being punished with very high fines, the ultimate goal is to minimize traffic accidents.
