On January 23, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Ministry of Public Security said that on the evening of January 22, traffic police forces nationwide simultaneously launched a campaign to inspect and handle alcohol concentration violations according to the orders and instructions of the Director of the Traffic Police Department. Control activities were deployed uniformly in 34/34 localities from 7 pm to 12 pm, focusing on key traffic routes.
During the above period, the traffic police force controlled 35,098 vehicles of all kinds. Through inspection, functional agencies discovered and made records of handling 1,716 cases of vehicle drivers violating alcohol concentration, mainly motorbike and motorcycle drivers.
In addition to alcohol concentration violations, functional forces also handle many other violations such as not having a driver's license, not having vehicle registration, and vehicles lacking rearview mirrors as prescribed.
As a result of the handling, 1,716 vehicles were temporarily seized, and 225 driver's licenses were revoked. According to the Traffic Police Department, during the entire time frame of simultaneous inspection orders from 7 pm to 12 am, no traffic accidents related to alcohol and beer occurred.
The Traffic Police Department also informed that, implementing the direction of the Director of the Traffic Police Department, right from the morning of the 1st day of the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo, traffic police forces nationwide will simultaneously check alcohol concentration.
The organization of control of the same topic, at the same time nationwide, will be maintained regularly and continuously, even during holidays and Tet, in order to gradually form and consolidate the habit in society "if you drink alcohol or beer, don't drive".
