On April 24, at the meeting with voters to prepare for the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly of the Da Nang City National Assembly Delegation, voters in the city raised the issue of fake milk and fake drugs rampant on the market.
Mr. Phan Van Phuoc, a voter in Cam Le village, Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district, expressed his frustration and concern about the widespread circulation of fake milk and fake medicine for nearly four years, seriously affecting people's health, especially children, pregnant women, people with diabetes, bones and joints, and causing birth defects. He also emphasized that taking advantage of celebrity images for advertising makes consumers more susceptible to traps, affecting public health. Mr. Phuoc suggested that the National Assembly and the Government need to have a thorough solution to protect consumer rights and regain the people's trust.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Viet, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Da Nang Department of Health, said that on April 21, the Ministry of Health issued Official Letter 1136 on strengthening inspection, examination, and handling of violations in pharmaceutical business activities. From this document, the Da Nang Department of Health is establishing an inspection team to inspect the drug business in the area. It is expected that on April 26, a team will be organized to inspect all pharmaceutical businesses.
Mr. Viet affirmed that he will strictly handle facilities that violate the provisions of the law, confiscate and destroy counterfeit products, and may suspend operations according to Decree 17/2020/ND-CP. Mr. Viet also informed about the recent arrests related to 21 products, including 4 drug products and 17 products related to medicinal herbs. He added that these 4 fake drug products are mainly antibiotics that are rarely used in the Central and Central Highlands.
Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, also admitted that this is a complex field, with many management agencies such as Market Management, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Health... causing difficulties in coordinating handling.
Mr. Cuong also suggested: The Department of Health coordinates with the Market Management, the City Food Safety Committee and the Police to strengthen inspection, handle quickly and drastically, not allowing the situation to prolong. At the same time, inspection and handling must be carried out regularly, not just according to plans and procedures. In which, Da Nang's advantage is to maintain the Food Safety Committee, helping to avoid shirking responsibility between agencies".
