At about 3:30 pm, on National Highway 1, towards the center of Ho Chi Minh City, the section passing through Binh Chanh commune and Binh Dong ward, the number of vehicles increased sharply, at many times crowding the road surface. The main vehicles are cars, motorbikes and passenger cars from the Mekong Delta provinces returning to the city after the holidays.
Although the vehicle density is quite high, serious traffic congestion has not occurred. At some points, vehicles have to slow down and move slowly due to the increasing number of vehicles.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Khanh (from Dong Thap) said that the number of vehicles on the road is quite large, but the movement is still relatively convenient.
“Normally, it takes me about 3 hours from my hometown to Ho Chi Minh City, today the travel time is more than 3.5 hours. I travel quite early, so the number of vehicles is not too large. If by late afternoon, the bus continues to increase, the travel time may be longer,” Mr. Khanh said.
At Mien Tay Bus Station (An Lac ward), passenger cars continuously poured in after the journey from the Mekong Delta provinces. Passengers got out of the car, brought their luggage and quickly booked a technology car or waited for relatives to pick them up.
While waiting for a technology car, Mr. Hoang Giang (from Can Tho) said that the travel time from his hometown to Ho Chi Minh City today is longer than usual but not significant.
Going like this on holidays is already too good. Now I will go home to rest, prepare to go back to work tomorrow," Mr. Giang shared.
According to forecasts, from the evening of September 2nd, the number of vehicles returning to Ho Chi Minh City may continue to increase, especially on gateway routes and areas around bus stations.
The Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police recommends that people returning from provinces to the city after the holidays should calculate reasonable travel time, proactively return early to avoid the situation of vehicles congested in the evening of the last day of the holiday.
People who plan to travel should also regularly monitor traffic information, choose the appropriate time and route to avoid peak hours.
For personal vehicles, people need to proactively check technical safety conditions, comply with regulations on speed, maintain a safe distance, and not stop or park in violation of regulations. In particular, vehicle drivers should absolutely not use alcohol, beer, or stimulants.
