At noon on July 5, the Riverine Police Team, Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police coordinated with Tra Co Border Guard Station, Mui Ngoc Border Guard Station to successfully rescue 3 crew members on a transport ship that sank due to the impact of storm No. 1.
The incident occurred in the Chuong Cat area, Mui Ngoc sea area, Mong Cai 1 ward.
Previously, at 0:15 on July 5, the Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police received a report from Mr. Nguyen Dinh Huan, born in 1979, residing in Cam Pha ward, owner of transport ship QN-8706, about the ship captained by Mr. Nguyen The Hung being flooded and sinking in the Chuong Cat area.
At the time of the accident, there were 3 crew members on board, including captain Nguyen The Hung and 2 other crew members.
After the ship sank, all crew members lost contact.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Riverine Police Team coordinated with Tra Co Border Guard Station, Mui Ngoc Border Guard Station and local authorities to urgently deploy search and rescue plans.
However, due to the impact of storm No. 1, the area where the incident occurred had strong winds and big waves, and functional forces could not approach the scene immediately overnight. Units have maintained on-duty forces, closely monitoring weather developments to organize rescue when conditions permit.
By 12:45 pm on the same day, rescue forces approached the area where the ship encountered an accident, successfully rescued all 3 crew members and brought them ashore safely.
The slightly injured crew members were transferred to Mong Cai Regional General Hospital for examination and first aid. Currently, the health and spirit of the crew members are stable.
Previously, also in the Mui Ngoc sea area, two other watercraft, including a sand transport ship and a container ship, drifted from the afternoon of July 4 and have now drifted to a safe shoal.
All crew members on these two vehicles are safe. Functional forces are waiting for the tide to rise to bring the vehicles into the anchorage area.
