On August 13, Military Region 9 informed that the Border Guard Flotilla, Can Tho City Border Guard Command had just coordinated with fishermen to successfully rescue fishing vessel AG 96220 TS and 5 crew members in distress at sea, bringing vehicles and victims ashore safely.
Previously, at 5 pm on August 12, the Border Guard Flotilla received a report from Mr. Nguyen Van Dat, born in 1985, Yen Quy hamlet, Tay Yen commune, An Giang province, owner of ship AG 96220 TS (rear-fortune ship), about the vehicle encountering an accident while en route to Tran De estuary.
According to initial information, vessel AG 96220 TS encountered an accident at coordinates 09°17'00"N - 106°21'00"E, about 18 nautical miles from Tran De fishing port. Due to the impact of big waves, strong winds, low tide, the vessel was stranded, leading to waterlogging. At the time of the accident, there were 5 crew members on board.
Immediately after receiving the news, the Border Guard Flotilla dispatched ship BP 18-12-01 operating near the area to support. However, due to bad weather, low tide and many shallows around the area, ship BP 18-12-01 could not directly approach the distressed vehicle.
Faced with the above situation, the Border Guard Flotilla coordinated with the Trung Binh Border Guard Station to notify and mobilize fishing boats of fishermen operating near the area to support rescue.
By 6:00 AM on August 13, Thien Phat ship, registration number BT 96979 TS, owned by Mr. Tran Thanh Hung, from Mo Cay commune, Vinh Long province, approached AG 96220 TS ship. Thien Phat ship and BP 18-12-01 ship organized to tow the distressed ship ashore.
At 11:55 am on the same day, ship AG 96220 TS was towed to the port of the Border Guard Flotilla safely. The unit's military medical team organized health check-ups for 5 crew members.
Currently, the health of the crew members is stable, and the vehicles are guaranteed to be safe. The Border Guard Flotilla is carrying out the necessary procedures to hand over people and vehicles according to regulations.
