Earlier, on the same morning, fishermen Tran Vinh Huu (born in 1971) and Tran Vinh Bao (born in 1985), both residing in village 6 (Trieu Lang commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province), went to sea to fish by boat.

At around 10am, the boat had an accident and sank about 500m from the shore of village 6. Upon receiving the information, the forces deployed to successfully rescue the two fishermen in distress.
