At noon on December 22, Trieu Van Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) said that the unit had just coordinated with Squadron 202 (Command of Coast Guard Region 2) and local authorities to rescue 2 fishermen and a boat in distress.

Earlier, on the same morning, fishermen Tran Vinh Huu (born in 1971) and Tran Vinh Bao (born in 1985), both residing in village 6 (Trieu Lang commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province), went to sea to fish by boat.

At around 10am, the boat had an accident and sank about 500m from the shore of village 6. Upon receiving the information, the forces deployed to successfully rescue the two fishermen in distress.

After rescuing the fishermen, the forces lined up on the shore and pulled the sunken boat to shore. At around 12 noon the same day, the boat and fishing gear were pulled to shore.
