On December 12, Gianh Port Border Guard Station (Quang Binh Border Guard) said that it had just coordinated with Border Guard Squadron 2 and 2 fishing boats in the area to promptly rescue 14 fishermen in distress at sea.
At noon of the same day, Gianh Port Border Guard Station received information that at around 11:30 a.m. on December 12, fishing boat QB 98733 TS was in an accident.
There were 14 crew members on board, captained by Mr. Hoang Minh (residing in Quang Loc commune, Ba Don town, Quang Binh province).
The ship left Gianh port to fish, and when it reached buoy area number 3, about 1.5 nautical miles from Gianh port, it ran aground and was gradually sunk by waves. The crew members were swimming in the sea and needed assistance.
The station reported to superiors and mobilized ships QB 98732 TS and QB 98160 TS from the Quang Loc convoy to rescue, but the waves were big and difficult to approach.
At 1:00 p.m. on December 12, ship QB 98160 TS captained by Nguyen Van Dung (residing in Quang Loc commune) approached and rescued 10 crew members.
The Provincial Border Guard Command mobilized a boat from Border Guard Squadron 2 and 10 officers to approach and rescue 4 crew members, ensuring safety.
A crew member was injured in the left arm, the unit's medical team provided first aid, then transferred the injured to Bac Quang Binh General Hospital for treatment. The vehicle suffered damage of about 4 billion VND.
