On June 21, information from the Soc Trang Provincial Border Guard said: At 01:05 a.m. the same day, Vinh Hai Border Guard Station received a report from Mr. Nguyen Duy Chung - Commander of the project "National grid supply for Con Dao district" about 7 workers in distress in the waters of Soc Trang province.

Previously, at around 07:30 on June 20, the ST-00153-TS barge carrying 7 workers of PC1 Southern Joint Stock Company, was under construction at Power pole No. 20 of the power supply project for Con Dao, starting from the My Thanh 2 bridge area (Vinh Chau Town).
At around 08:30 am, due to bad weather, the barge ran aground and could not move, causing the group of workers to be stranded at sea.
Immediately after receiving the information, Vinh Hai Border Guard Station coordinated with fishing boat ST-04336-TS of fisherman Dinh Van Hao and deployed a rescue force of 3 officers.
At 2:50 a.m. on June 21, the rescue team arrived at the scene about 3 nautical miles from Ho Be beach. After many efforts, at 7:20 a.m. the same day, all 7 workers were brought safely to shore and handed over to PC1 Southern Joint Stock Company.
