There were 11 people on board. In addition, the ship also carried 5 bricks, 10 tons of cement and various food items.
It was expected that ship HP-90666-TS would arrive at Bach Long Vi port at about 10 pm on May 26, but by 5:19 pm on the same day, the ship had lost connection and could not be contacted. The location of loss of connection with ship HP-90666-TS is 18 nautical miles southeast of Long Chau Island, about 26 nautical miles west of Bach Long Vi Island, suspected of being in distress.
Immediately after receiving the news, the City Military Command directed the City Border Guard Command to notify coordinating units and civilian vehicles operating near the suspected shipwreck area to verify and support search and rescue. Directed Cat Ba Border Guard Station, Bach Long Vi and Naval Flotilla 2 to mobilize forces and vehicles to the scene; The Bach Long Vi Special Military Zone Command advised the Bach Long Vi Civil Defense Command to mobilize forces and vehicles operating near the suspected shipwreck area for search and rescue.
