The Da Nang City Civil Defense Command on August 18 issued an official dispatch, requesting agencies and units to regularly monitor the developments of the tropical depression, update forecast bulletins, warnings and provide timely information to people.
Functional forces are required to strictly manage vehicles going out to sea, and organize the counting of ships operating at sea. Vehicle owners and captains are notified of dangerous areas to proactively prevent, escape, or not move into dangerous areas.
Vehicles, especially tourist boats operating in bays, coastal areas and island areas, must be closely monitored. Rescue and relief forces are required to be ready with vehicles to handle arising situations.
According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 AM on August 18, the center of the tropical depression was at about 19.8 degrees North latitude, 117.6 degrees East longitude, over the sea east of the Northern East Sea area. The strongest wind near the center was level 6, gusting to level 8. The tropical depression is moving slowly in a westerly direction at a speed of about 5km/h.
On land, convective clouds are developing in many communes and wards, causing showers and thunderstorms. In the next 3 hours, thunderstorms are likely to continue and expand to many other localities.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, localized heavy rain of about 30mm/hour and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. Disaster risk level due to tornadoes, lightning, hail is level 1.
People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones are required to review natural disaster prevention plans, pay attention to areas at risk of landslides and flash floods. At the same time, arrange forces, materials, and vehicles to handle incidents and ensure traffic on main routes when heavy rain occurs.
