On June 11, the Department of Construction of Da Nang City issued a document requesting affiliated and related units to urgently deploy solutions to prevent and combat urban flooding caused by storm No. 1 (international name WUTIP).
The Department of Construction requested the City Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company to mobilize all forces, conduct a scene review, clear the revenue gate and drainage ditch; clean up the grass, remove the odor-proof covers and temporary dams installed by people at the discharge gates.
Arrange human resources to be on duty 24/7, fully prepare means and equipment to be ready to promptly handle vulnerable points and areas at high risk of flooding. For flood prevention pumping stations, it is required to carefully check the electrical system and equipment, ensure stable operation, and arrange permanent technical staff to handle incidents if they occur.
In particular, it is necessary to reduce the water level in regulating lakes to the minimum level, in order to increase the ability to store water in case of prolonged heavy rain.
Request the Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company to simultaneously deploy two scenarios: responding to urban flooding and responding to and overcoming wastewater spillovers into the sea, with the goal of minimizing local flooding and coastal environmental pollution.
The Department of Construction also requested the People's Committees of wards, communes and local drainage units to review and unblock the water collection system on routes under their management; mobilize people to raise awareness of flood prevention and control and coordinate to promptly handle arising situations.
In particular, it is necessary to arrange guards and checkpoints in deeply flooded areas, where water flows rapidly and dangerously, to ensure safety and be ready to support rescue work when necessary.
