According to the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, through patrols, inspections and scene examinations of accidents on Thanh Tri bridge, functional forces have made many recommendations such as: Replacing the mobile median strip between car and motorbike lanes with a continuous hard median strip with elasticity; strengthening the paint of speed bumps at locations where accidents often occur; supplementing lighting systems, especially in bad weather conditions.
Research the installation of horizontal windshields on both sides of the bridge; regularly maintain and re-pave the bridge deck to ensure smoothness; clean soil, sand, dust, especially motorbike lanes to increase friction and reduce slipperiness; strengthen reflective systems on railings and medians to contribute to curbing and reducing traffic accidents.
Captain Nguyen Van Tung - Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 - said that during patrols and inspections, functional forces found that the infrastructure system, especially the concrete median strip separating motorbike and car lanes on Thanh Tri bridge, had been installed many years ago, and there are currently many locations that are heavily damaged. Meanwhile, the traffic volume is increasing, traffic collisions occur frequently, including the cause of avoiding and colliding with the median strip. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen maintenance and ensure traffic safety items on Thanh Tri bridge.
