On September 9, Dak Lak Hydrometeorological Station informed that from the morning of September 9 to the morning of September 11, many areas in the province had moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places accompanied by thunderstorms.
Total rainfall is commonly from 100-150mm, in some places over 200mm. Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding, landslides and dangerous weather phenomena.
Recorded on the morning of September 9, Dak Lak weather was cloudy. The western area of the province experienced moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places, with common rainfall of 30-70mm. Some places had heavy rainfall such as Cu Dlie Mnong station (Ea Tul commune) 121.4mm and Ea Kmut station (Ea Kar commune) 110.8mm.
Dak Lak Provincial Hydrometeorological Station warns that in the next 48-72 hours, there will continue to be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms in the province, with a common total rainfall of 40-80mm/24 hours.
Faced with complicated weather developments, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the unit has requested departments, agencies, branches, unions and localities to proactively deploy plans to respond to heavy rain, in order to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
Functional forces at the grassroots level are required to be ready to control traffic at culverts, spillways, fast-flowing water areas and landslide-prone areas; resolutely not allowing people and vehicles to pass if safety is not ensured.
Also on September 9, Ea Sup Irrigation Branch announced water regulation through the spillway of Ea Sup Thuong and Ea Sup Ha reservoirs to implement reservoir operation procedures, ensure project safety, and reduce the risk of flooding downstream when heavy rain occurs in the basin.
Ea Sup Ha Lake is expected to start opening the spillway at 3:30 PM on September 9, with a flow rate of 5-30m3/s, opening 1 gate. Ea Sup Thuong Lake is expected to start opening the spillway at 7:30 AM on September 11, with a flow rate of 20-100m3/s, opening 1 gate.
Ea Sup, Ea Bung, Ea Rok, Ia Rve and Ia Lop communes are requested to proactively widely announce to people to know and prevent, especially in the Suoi Ea Sup village area and the Ea Pop stream concrete tunnel (West tunnel).
Currently, Dak Lak Irrigation Works Management Co., Ltd. is managing 253 reservoirs, 90 dams, 18 pumping stations and 1 canal system.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Bao, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Irrigation Works Management Co., Ltd., said that in the face of complicated heavy rain developments, the unit has requested forces to set up checkpoints at the facility to be flexible in water regulation plans, thereby ensuring the safety of lives and property of people in downstream areas. At the same time, the unit strengthens safety inspections of degraded works to proactively prevent incidents.
