Dak Lak - Functional agencies have intervened to rectify the fact that many people gathered to livestream the case of a foreign male tourist missing at sea.

On August 17, Tuy Hoa Ward People's Committee (Dak Lak province) said that the locality is coordinating with the police, military, border guard forces and many organizations and individuals to actively search for a male Chinese tourist who went missing in the sea area under its jurisdiction from the evening of August 7.

In addition to mobilizing forces and vehicles to organize searches, local authorities also rectify the situation of people gathering in large numbers in the beach area to film, take photos, livestream (live broadcast) relatives of victims and the search process.

Tuy Hoa Ward People's Committee requests people not to post, share or spread unverified information and images related to the incident, especially content that may cause public confusion, harm the victim's family or affect search and rescue work.

The locality also requests to stop spontaneous, superstitious, and superstitious activities; not gathering to cause insecurity and disorder, affecting the normal life of people and tourists.

As Lao Dong Newspaper reported, in the afternoon of August 7, Ms. L.D. B. (residing in Phu Hoa 2 commune, Dak Lak province) and Mr. Z.L. (27 years old, Chinese nationality) were walking in the beach area.

At about 6:45 pm, Mr. Z.L. moved to the beach to wash his hands when he was suddenly swept away by a large wave. The male tourist then went missing in the sea.

Upon receiving the news, Tuy Hoa Ward Police and the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police deployed forces and vehicles to organize the search.

However, at the time of the incident, the sea had big waves and strong winds, making search and rescue work difficult. To date, functional forces have not found the victim.

Immediately after the incident occurred, functional forces and people organized a search for the male tourist. However, due to the prolonged incident, the beach area is increasingly attracting many curious people.

According to local authorities, among those gathered in this area, there are people who continuously livestream day and night, film search activities and then share them on social networking platforms.
