On January 6, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that from the beginning of 2026 to now, the whole province has recorded 57 cases of dengue fever in 39 communes and wards. This number has increased significantly compared to the same period at the beginning of 2025.
Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of Dak Lak CDC - said that although 2026 has only passed for less than a week, the number of dengue fever cases has increased, especially in the period near the Lunar New Year.
The unusual weather at the end of the year makes epidemic prevention and control difficult; many outbreaks in remote and isolated areas are difficult to handle thoroughly and are prone to recurrence.
According to Mr. Phuc, immediately after the health station was transferred to the People's Committees of communes and wards for management, the Department of Health and the Provincial CDC requested units to focus on implementing preventive medicine, closely monitoring infectious diseases, and preventing epidemics from spreading widely. The health sector also closely monitors the situation to promptly support human resources and medical supplies for the facility when needed.
People's Committees of communes and wards have established Steering Committees for epidemic prevention and control; organized general environmental sanitation, cleared bushes, and killed larvae and pupae.
Previously, in 2025, the dengue fever situation in Dak Lak was complicated, with a strong outbreak with more than 7,300 cases and 3 deaths.
This is considered the peak year of the epidemic according to a 3-year cycle, with an average number of 50–100 cases per day, recorded in many communes and wards in the area.
