On April 28, the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for Component Project 2 of the North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section including the service road and overpass (Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway project).
The project has a total length of more than 124km. Of which, the section through Binh Phuoc is over 101km long, the section through Dak Nong is over 23km long.
The project has a total investment of about VND 25,540 billion, implemented in the form of public investment combined with public-private partnership (PPP). The central budget contributed more than 10,500 billion VND, Binh Phuoc province more than 1,200 billion VND, Dak Nong province 1,000 billion VND. The capital arranged by the investor is about 12,770 billion VND.
In early April 2025, the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee approved the project to construct a service road and a bridge across the section through Dak Nong province with a total investment of 338 billion VND from the local budget.
The project will build 20 service roads, a total length of 28.4km with a cement concrete road surface of 3.5m wide, along with 5 overpasses designed with a width of 7.5m and 9m.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the project is one of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
The event also marked an important step forward in the development of transport infrastructure in Dak Nong province. The project will promote the economy, improve the quality of life of people, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province.
The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway project is expected to be basically completed in 2026 and put into operation in 2027.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee affirmed that this is a national key transport project, of special strategic significance to the socio-economic development, as well as ensuring national defense and security of Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc provinces and the Central Highlands and Southeast regions.
This project not only connects the economic and political centers of the region but also opens up new development space. Thereby, exploiting land potential, developing tourism, processing and exploiting mineral industries.
This will be a strong driving force to help Dak Nong develop rapidly and integrate deeply into the overall development process of the country.
