Son La - A serious landslide has just occurred on the 4G national highway, through Ta Co village, Sop Cop commune (Son La), causing traffic congestion.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, a large amount of soil and rocks were eroded from the positive slope, causing trees to fall onto the road, completely blocking the main traffic route connecting the center of Sop Cop commune with the border communes of Son La.

The incident did not cause any human casualties, but seriously affected the travel and transportation of goods by people in the area.

Talking to PV of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sop Cop Commune said that the cause of the landslide was determined to be due to prolonged heavy rain in recent days, causing the terrain structure to be unstable, leading to the phenomenon of landslides.

"As soon as we received the information, the locality mobilized local forces to coordinate with the road management unit to issue a warning. At the same time, put up warning signs, divert traffic and urgently bring machinery to the scene to handle the landslide site" - Mr. Tuan said.

According to Mr. Tuan, the commune government is continuing to review vulnerable locations near the area to have timely response plans. In addition, people are encouraged to limit travel through dangerous areas.

Currently, the repair work is being urgently deployed, and the authorities are making efforts to clear the route to soon restore travel for people.
