According to information from the Department of Construction of Son La province, from July 21 to 27, there were many heavy rains in the province. In particular, the rain that lasted from the night of July 26 to the early morning of July 27 caused significant damage to traffic infrastructure.
The 4G National Highway section from km95 - km113 + 500/QL (from Huoi Mot commune to Sop Cop commune) is estimated to have about 100,000m3 of rock and soil at 80 landslides.
Of which, there were negative slope landslides with a volume of about 130m3 at 6 locations. The total length of landslides accounts for about 40-45% of the total length of the route.

Immediately after the incident, the Department of Construction and the provincial authorities mobilized machinery, equipment and deployed forces to coordinate with local authorities to ensure traffic safety. The route is expected to open on July 30.
To ensure safety, the Department of Construction of Son La province requested the People's Committees of communes along the route to urgently inform the people and develop appropriate travel plans.
At the same time, the Department of Transport Management, vehicles and drivers are required to proactively notify relevant transport units.
4G National Highway is a vital route connecting border communes such as Song Ma and Sop Cop.
Currently, 9 excavators and bulldozers are under construction at 4 locations from the inside and outside in all directions to ensure the earliest route is open.
According to information from the Son La Department of Construction, by 6:00 p.m. on July 27, the landslide site on National Highway 4G had temporarily cleared from km95-km97+200 and km106-km120. Currently, this route is still congested from km97+200-km106.
