Unique: Not a highway but has 10 lanes
The image of My Phuoc - Tan Van route has recently emerged as a phenomenon, praised by netizens for its "unique" nature. The road is 10 lanes wide (each direction has 5 lanes including 3 car lanes and 2 mixed lanes), the road surface is beautiful and the median strips are planted with flowers. More surprisingly, this is not a highway but just a provincial road of Binh Duong.
According to records, the 37km long 10-lane section has been gradually completed and put into use since 2021. The starting point is from My Phuoc Tan Van roundabout (Dinh Hoa ward, Thu Dau Mot city) to Cay Truong industrial park (Bau Bang district, intersecting with Ho Chi Minh road under construction).
The road passes through Ben Cat, connecting with My Phuoc 2 Industrial Park and My Phuoc 3 Industrial Park. In Bau Bang district, this route has connected with Bau Bang Industrial Park, Bau Bang Industrial Park expansion and Cay Truong Industrial Park project which is being invested in construction.
Since this 37km section was opened, the My Phuoc - Tan Van route has become a vital traffic route of Binh Duong. Together with National Highway 13, this route plays a role in connecting industrial parks in Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, and the Central Highlands provinces to Ho Chi Minh City; especially to the country's road and seaport hubs.
According to the assessment, the route will help reduce traffic congestion on National Highway 13 and other provincial roads. In addition, it will help transport goods and raw materials from factories to ports, reducing about 30% of time and costs. Thereby, the route will help increase productivity and competitiveness for businesses.
25km 6 lane section
The 25km section from Tan Van intersection (intersection with National Highway 1A in Di An city) to My Phuoc Tan Van roundabout (Dinh Hoa ward, Thu Dau Mot city) was built first and put into use in 2015.
When it was first put into use, this was considered the widest road in Binh Duong province with 6 lanes. However, since 2021, this road has become overloaded, with frequent traffic jams.
Notably, there is currently 15.3km of My Phuoc Tan Van road, this section coincides with the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project. This section intersects with many residential areas and roads connecting to industrial parks, ports... so every day it receives a very large number of vehicles.
Along with the rapid urban development in the South of Binh Duong, this road section has become increasingly narrow.
Binh Duong People's Committee said that the province is currently reporting to the Prime Minister a plan to invest 24,000 billion VND to build a 4-lane elevated highway along this section.
The remaining 10km section still has only 6 lanes, intersecting with many main roads of Thu Dau Mot, with very high traffic density, often congested during rush hour. This route also has no overpass or underpass.
Calculating investment to complete the "silk" road
According to the Office of the People's Committee of Binh Duong province, the province held a meeting to review the documents submitted by the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Duong province on approving the investor to prepare a pre-feasibility study report for the investment project to complete My Phuoc Tan Van road under the PPP method.
Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Planning and Investment to continue working with departments and branches; or advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue a document directing relevant departments, branches, localities and Becamex IDC Corporation to urgently review, handle backlogs, complete documents according to regulations, and report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision.
