On June 10, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai has just directed the review and removal of difficulties and obstacles to accelerate the progress of compensation, support and resettlement for the Vinh International Airport Extension Project.
According to the report, the project to extend the runway - Vinh International Airport is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total investment of more than 545 billion VND.

To date, the investor has completed the entire work of clearing bombs and mines and reinforcing and treating weak soil within the existing fence. The project is awaiting the Vietnam Aviation Administration's approval of the 1/500 plan to implement the next steps.
According to the Nghe An Department of Construction, the total land area to be cleared for the project is 55.27ha with 623 land plots, affecting some military works and religious relics.
In Vinh Hung ward, the total area to be cleared is 19.73ha. As of the beginning of June 2026, the locality has approved a compensation plan for 2.95ha of agricultural land, transportation, and irrigation. The province has additionally allocated more than 8 billion VND for the first phase of payment. The remaining total area to be recovered is 7.2ha.
In Vinh Phu ward, the total area to be cleared is 23.4ha. The locality has completed the approval of the compensation plan for 6.87ha, reaching 29.36%. The ward has received additional handover of more than 14.4 billion VND of land clearance budget and is proceeding with payment. The remaining area to be recovered is 16.53ha.
For Nghi Loc commune, the total land area to be cleared is 12.14ha. Currently, the locality has approved a compensation plan for 9.29ha of agricultural land, and 2.85ha has not yet completed site clearance.
In addition to the main site, supporting projects are also being implemented. The Department of Construction has approved the bidding documents for the construction package of the project to adjust the Rao Truong drainage canal line, 1,400m long. The People's Committee of Nghe An province has also approved an investment project of 4 billion VND to build a restored road section to serve the relocation of Station K1.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province assessed that although departments, branches and localities have made many efforts, the progress of site handover is generally still slow compared to the previous direction milestones. The main reason is the large volume of site clearance, complex terrain, and the time-consuming verification of land origin. In addition, localities have only received the handover of additional surveyed cadastral maps since mid-April 2026.
Another obstacle is the unification of the relocation location of Station K5. Although the competent authorities of the province have worked many times, the relocation location has not yet been agreed upon. To definitively resolve this issue, leaders of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies will work directly with the Air Defense - Air Force Service to unify the relocation plan, as a basis for implementing the next steps.
Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai assigned Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Phu Hien to continue directing and urging relevant localities, departments, and branches, ensuring that by June 30, 2026, site handover must be completed to deploy project construction.
Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the volume of backlog projects in the area is still very large, so levels and sectors must focus on implementing them with the spirit of determination and maximum effort.
