The Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just had a working session with Vinh International Airport and Vietnam Airlines Vinh branch to agree on a plan to welcome the first flight in 2026, marking the time when the airport officially resumes operation.
The working group surveyed the station area, the parking lot and related items to develop a detailed plan, ensuring the reception of guests took place solemnly, safely and effectively. The parties also discussed plans to coordinate the promotion and attraction of tourists, contributing to the development of Nghe An tourism in the new period.
According to the representative of HKQT Vinh Port, the unit is ready to welcome the first flights, opening a new journey for Nghe An tourism to take off.

Previously, from July 1, 2025, Vinh airport temporarily suspended operations to serve the upgrade project, with the goal of completion and operation again on December 19, 2025. Construction items include repairing runways, taxiways, expanding parking lots and upgrading terminals.
Currently, the project is being constructed by 6 contractors and is being accelerated. In package No. 11, CIENCO Group 4 is in charge of 500m of runway and 200m of taxiway, has completed 384m and is continuing to spread and pour concrete with layer under M150, reinforced concrete with layer over M350.
In package No. 6, the consortium of contractors expanding the aircraft parking lot completed 50,000m of earth cement deposits in 30 days. The construction units all worked "3 shifts, 4 teams", regardless of rain or shine, to ensure the progress of 180 days.
However, the weather in the Central region has been continuously affected by storms and heavy rain in recent times, causing a significant impact on the construction process. However, contractors are still trying to overcome difficulties, striving to complete the entire project before December 19, 2025 to serve the peak season at the end of the year.
