Currently, from the center of Phan Thiet city, vehicles travel along National Highway 1 for about 14 km, then turn onto the road leading to Ba Bau intersection for about 2.6 km to enter the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways.
The total estimated travel time of about 16.6 km above is 30 minutes if there is no traffic jam. Therefore, investing in a route connecting Phan Thiet city directly to Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway is necessary and this project is being implemented. In addition, this project route also connects with the North-South high-speed railway.

On May 14, the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects of Binh Thuan province said that up to now, the consulting unit has completed the Pre-Feasibility Study Report on project construction investment, completed the project investment plan report to submit to competent authorities for consideration and has provided project boundaries for localities to update into the 2025 land use plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.

To speed up the project implementation, the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has coordinated with the Department of Construction to propose an investment plan in the direction of splitting into 4 independent projects, implementing at the same time, ensuring investment efficiency, including: Road investment project from Le Duan - Truong Chinh intersection to expressway intersection and land fund on both sides of the road; investment project to build a concentrated administrative area and a resettlement area; investment project of TOD urban area ( urban development model associated with traffic development orientation); investment project to build a provincial bus station.

In response to the current project implementation progress, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Hong Hai requested the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects to review, supplement, and complete the Pre-feasibility Study Report on investment in the construction of the connecting road project from Phan Thiet to the expressway and high-speed railway to submit to superiors for consideration.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment reviews the project's land use planning, updates the planning, plans, and list of land use works for the period up to 2030 of Binh Thuan province for suitability, as a basis for land acquisition to implement the project.
The project connecting the center of Phan Thiet city to the high-speed and high-speed railway is about 11.2 km long. The project is expected to have a scale of 12 lanes with a total investment of about VND6,990 billion, including reserve land allocation to invest in the urban light rail system (electric metro ship) in the future in sync with the road route.

The starting point is at the intersection of Le Duan Street and Truong Chinh Street (National Highway 1), Phan Thiet City. The end point (Km11+200) intersects with the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway in Ham Hiep commune, Ham Thuan Bac district. Regarding the roadmap, it is expected that phase 1 (2026 - 2030) will complete site clearance for the entire route; invest in completing 6 lanes for motor vehicles and technical infrastructure works.
When the project is completed, it will open up new space, creating new momentum to contribute to promoting the development of the East - West economic corridor of the province.
