On May 28, the People's Committee of Hue City announced that it had sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) regarding the establishment of a Council to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and repair national treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty throne.
According to the People's Committee of Hue City, there are currently no specific instructions on the establishment of an appraisal Council and proposal for a plan for preservation and restoration of national treasures. Therefore, to ensure a scientific and comprehensive assessment and propose a suitable and effective conservation and restoration plan, the People's Committee of Hue City proposes that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism preside over the establishment of a Council or have a document agreeing to authorize the People's Committee of Hue City to preside over implementation.
Regarding the Council's members, the People's Committee of Hue City plans to invite prestigious experts in the field of cultural heritage, along with representatives of state management agencies and specialized units to participate.
Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City - Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - said that this agency has advised on a list of 11 members participating in the council, including experts on the research and preservation of antiques from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hue.
According to Mr. Hai, the experts agreed to participate. It is expected that if the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agrees, the Council will hold a meeting this weekend.
As Lao Dong reported, at noon on May 24, Ho Van Phuong T (born in 1983, residing in Hue City) suddenly crossed the fence, encroached on the national treasure area of the Nguyen Dynasty throne at Thai Hoa Palace, sat on the throne, took off his shirt and broke the left armrest.
The security force controlled and handed over T to Hue City Police. Tam was once taken to a compulsory drug rehabilitation facility and is currently being assessed for psychiatric examination.
On May 25, the Government Office conveyed the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, requesting the People's Committee of Hue City to urgently assess the situation, propose a plan to preserve and restore the throne according to regulations; at the same time, review and handle the responsibilities of related individuals and organizations.
