On April 25, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee informed that the unit had submitted a document and draft a resolution requesting competent authorities to decide on the policy of converting forest use to other purposes to implement the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project.
Location and area proposed for forest use purpose conversion under component project 2 (Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway construction project, phase 1).
The forest proposed to change its purpose of use has a total area of 6.94 hectares, located on the administrative boundaries of 3 communes of Krong Bong and M'Drak districts.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Huan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province - said: "The dossier for approval of the policy of converting forest use to other purposes for the additional area to implement the project has met current regulations.
This move is in line with the plan for forest allocation, forest lease, and conversion of forest use to other purposes in M'Drak and Krong Bong districts".
The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project Phase 1 is divided into three components. Of which, component 1 is 31.5km long managed by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, component 2 is nearly 37km long implemented by the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction), and component 3 is over 48km long and invested by Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.
The starting point is at the intersection between National Highway 26B and National Highway 1, Nam Van Phong port area (Khanh Hoa), the end point connects with Ho Chi Minh Road, the section avoiding the East of Buon Ma Thuot city.
