With the People's Committee of Cam Khe district investing and implementing construction since 2023, the project to renovate and upgrade rural traffic routes between Dieu Luong commune and Dong Luong commune, Cam Khe district has renovated and upgraded the road on the left and right dykes of Ngoi Co.
This is the "hundred-billion-dong dike that causes people to suffer" that Lao Dong Newspaper reported since the end of 2022. At that time, along with the deterioration of the dike road, there were 8 households that lost their land and houses due to another dike upgrade project since around 2011 but were not arranged for resettlement, and had filed a long complaint, until the end of 2024 the benefits would be met.
Returning to the Ngoi Co dike, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper noted that the degraded dike has been paved with spacious and clean asphalt since last year, meeting the expectations of thousands of people in the old Dieu Luong commune (now Dong Luong commune).
However, a large subsidence has appeared on the right dike with a length of more than 10 meters. It can be seen that the traffic guardrail, layers of asphalt road surface, crushed stone aggregate and roadbed have collapsed into negative slopes.
According to Mr. Hoang Van Thang - a resident of Dong Che area, Dong Luong commune, the Ngoi Co dike has been subsided since around June 2025 to a slight extent. After recent storms, there were times when floodwaters reached the surface of the dike, making the situation more serious.
"There is a large pot of mud deep under the dike at this section. Previously, the contractor had sucked the mud and dumped the soil and mud very carefully from the bottom up, but it was still eroded, the geology here was difficult to handle" - Mr. Thang recounted.
According to the design, the project to renovate and upgrade the rural traffic route between Dieu Luong commune and Dong Luong commune, Cam Khe district will construct the road surface above the current status of the old dike road (the roadbed was previously renovated and upgraded from the project in 2011).
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tung - Chairman of Dong Luong Commune People's Committee - said that the project to renovate and upgrade the rural traffic road between Dieu Luong commune and Dong Luong commune, Cam Khe district, after being handed over and put into use, has now expired.
"In the immediate future, the commune has arranged warning signs and fences at the landslide site. At the same time, report to the province to propose funding for handling" - Mr. Tung shared.
