DNP Water Investment Joint Stock Company (DNP Water) proposed to Soc Trang province to invest in the project "Raw water pumping station in the Southwest of Hau River and transmission pipeline system" to supply raw water to the three provinces of Ca Mau - Bac Lieu - Soc Trang.
According to DNP Water, the total investment in phase 1 of the project is 4,800 billion VND. Of which, the direct investment of the enterprise is 3,300 billion VND, the connection system part is invested by the provincial budget is 1,500 billion VND. The capacity of this phase is 300,000 m3/day and night, meeting the clean water needs for daily life and production for 3 provinces until 2037. The capacity of phase 2 is 600,000 m3/day and night and the reserve expansion is up to 100,000 m3/day and night.
Regarding the technical plan, in Soc Trang province, it is planned to build 8 booster pumping stations; in Bac Lieu province, 3 stations; in Ca Mau province, 10 booster pumping stations. The capacity of each station is from 3,000 - 5,000m3/day and night.
Regarding progress, phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2028, with the expected starting wholesale price of raw water in the first year being VND 3,500/m3.
According to DNP Water, the project's goal is to ensure adequate surface water supply for domestic and production purposes, overcome saline water contamination, and replace over-exploited groundwater that is causing subsidence in the area.
On January 2, at a working session with DNP Water, Mr. Lam Hoang Nghiep - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province - said that DNP Water's proposals were assessed by departments and branches as appropriate and necessary in the current period of clean water shortage. The leaders of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province supported DNP Water's proposal.
Soc Trang provincial leaders assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with departments and branches to continue studying the project based on the company's proposal, with a full assessment of the impact, investment roadmap, water prices, etc. to advise the provincial leaders.
