Ms. Paetongtarn and the new Thai cabinet sworn in

On the morning of July 3, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and new cabinet ministers were suspended and sworn in at the Government Headquarters in Bangkok.

Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra holds the new position of Minister of Culture. She arrived at the Government Headquarters at 9am and welcomed the press with a bright smile, despite the Criminal Court's order on July 1 to suspend her from performing her duties as Prime Minister.

Previously, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, Deputy Minister of Education Tewan Liptapallop and Deputy Minister of Public Health Chaichana starteddecho and Anucha Sasomsub were the first to arrive at 7:41.

Labor Minister Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit arrived at756, and other ministers also arrived throughout the morning.

A total of 14 ministers attended the ceremony.

The ministers and deputy ministers who have transferred to new roles include:

Acting Prime Minister of Thailand Suriya Jungrungruangkit led the new cabinet members to Dusit Palace to attend the ceremony to receive the approval decree of King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

In a special cabinet meeting after the ceremony, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai was appointed to hold the position of Prime Minister to replace Mr. Suriya. Mr. Phumtham was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs. Since Ms. Paetongtarn took office last year, Mr. Phumtham has held the role of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense.
