On the morning of August 20, information from local people said that a drowning incident had just occurred in Phuc Yen hamlet, Giai Lac commune, Nghe An province, killing one person.
According to initial information, in the morning of the same day, two local people went fishing in the canal flowing through the village. During the fishing process, one person unfortunately fell into the water and was swept away by the water.
Immediately after receiving the information, functional forces and local people organized a search for the victim.
At about 11 am on the same day, the victim's body was found. The victim was a male, born in 1980.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, from August 19, heavy rain appeared in many areas of Nghe An, water in rivers, streams, and canals rose, causing localized flooding and division in some areas.
Functional agencies recommend that people monitor weather developments, limit going through deep flooded areas, places at risk of landslides; do not fish in rivers, streams, canals when the water rises and is not safe.
