On July 14, the PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Binh Project said that the project's MTT1 multi- tasks team had brought the bomb to the safe explosives warehouse.
Previously, on the evening of July 6, when the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board dredged and cleared the Son River flow, a bomb was discovered about 200m from Phong Nha Cave.
Immediately, all dredging activities were stopped. At the same time, the Management Board has requested to stop sightseeing on the Phong Nha - Tien Son route to ensure the safety of tourists.
The PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Binh project has received a request from the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command to support the handling of bombs and mines in the Dong Phong Nha area.
The bomb and mine clearing team checked and determined that this was a MK82 bomb left over from the war, qualified for safe transportation.
The team moved the bomb to a safe explosives warehouse.
