Accordingly, all 56 communes and wards in the province have recorded an outbreak of African swine fever, forcing the destruction of nearly 33,000 pigs of 6,500 households. Of which, there are more than 8,800 breeding pigs and nearly 24,000 pigs with a weight of nearly 1,700 kg.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the main cause of the strong outbreak of African swine fever is due to people's subjectivity in disease prevention and control.
Along with prolonged humid weather and limited disease monitoring at the grassroots level, negligence and lack of vigilance from the people have caused the epidemic to spread rapidly, causing serious damage.
It is known that the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Cao Bang province has established 10 working groups to strengthen inspection, supervision, and implementation of zoning and disinfection measures, establish epidemic prevention teams in epidemic areas, be on duty 24/7 to control the transportation and destruction of sick pigs, general hygiene of schools, disinfection and zoning of epidemics.
Urge localities to carry out periodic vaccination, spray disinfectants in batches; support the purchase of vaccines and chemicals to promptly handle outbreaks; promptly handle and destroy disease-prone pigs in accordance with regulations. At the same time, it is recommended that people absolutely do not hide epidemics, buy, sell, or transport pigs of unknown origin and strictly implement biosafety in livestock farming.
Previously, on August 5, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DONRE) of Cao Bang province issued a notice requesting communes and wards to stop all pig trading and transportation activities at all livestock markets in the area.
