Him Lam resistance relic is one of the important historical sites in the Dien Bien Phu battlefield relic complex, located about 3 km northeast of Dien Bien Phu city center.
This is the place that marked the opening battle of the Dien Bien Phu campaign on March 13, 1954, a key battle that broke the strong defensive stronghold of the French colonialists. With a strategic position as the gateway to protect the northeast of the stronghold, Him Lam was built by the French colonialists with a solid fortification system including bunkers, traffic trenches and dense minefields.
The victory at Him Lam not only created an important turning point in the campaign but also affirmed the military talent of the Vietnam People's Army and raised the fighting spirit of the entire army.
