Hundreds of officers and soldiers brave the sun to help people grow coffee and macadamia in Dien Bien

Dien Bien - At the beginning of April, although the weather was always at nearly 40oC, hundreds of officers and soldiers still braved the sun to help farmers dig holes to plant coffee and macadamia trees.

Accelerate the excavation progress

In 2026, Dien Bien strives to dig more than 21.6 million planting holes, equivalent to about 12,000 hectares, including 5,930 hectares of coffee and 6,070 hectares of macadamia (including intercropping and pure planting).

It is expected that about 6,000 households will participate, with each household planting an average of about 1 hectare of coffee and 1 hectare of macadamia.

To implement the plan, the province mobilized about 14,150 workers, including 12,000 people, 900 militia and self-defense forces and 1,250 officers and soldiers of the armed forces to participate in support, especially in difficult areas.

In the early days of April, the Northwest region is in a period of intense heat, the outdoor temperature sometimes rises to over 40 degrees Celsius.

The image of officers and soldiers diligently hoeing soil and digging holes has left a deep impression, further embellishing the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

According to the Military Command (CHQS) of Dien Bien province, from April 3 to 8, the unit mobilized 3,394 working days, and excavated 143,945 planting holes.

On April 8 alone, with 482 officers and soldiers participating, the force completed 33,977 pits. During the implementation process, agencies and units coordinated with localities, deployed scientifically, and met the standard sizes.

Previously, on April 7, at Ban Moc 4, Muong Cha commune, more than 40 officers and soldiers of Regiment 741, Dien Bien Provincial Military Command coordinated with the people to dig over 5,100 holes with an area of 1.7 hectares to plant intercropped macadamia coffee.

Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Xuan Dung - Head of Logistics - Technical of Regiment 741, said: "Under the Lao sun and wind of the border highlands, the image of officers and soldiers digging holes to plant macadamia and coffee has left many impressions.

The activity not only contributes to promoting agricultural economic development but also tightens military-civilian solidarity, building an increasingly solid people's hearts battle.

Dien Bien Phu Campaign in peacetime

On the morning of April 9, in Hua Nam and Pa Lieng villages (Muong Ang commune), 100 officers and soldiers of Regiment 82, Division 355 (Military Region 2) and 10 soldiers of the Regional Defense Command 4, Muong Ang made efforts to overcome terrain and weather, completing the excavation of 29,600 pits, equivalent to 6.4 ha.

Directly visiting and encouraging, Colonel Tran Trung Kien - Commander of the 4th Regional Defense Command - Muong Ang, wished that officers and soldiers continue to promote the glorious tradition of the armed forces, determined to maintain the emulation spirit, and strive to complete and exceed the set goals.

Colonel Trinh Duc Thiem - Commander of Dien Bien Provincial Military Command acknowledged and praised the spirit of proactiveness, activeness, and creativity with many good, quick, neat, and suitable planting size methods according to the assessment of specialized agencies of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.

Colonel Trinh Duc Thiem also emphasized that participating in the implementation of the "Dien Bien Phu Campaign in peacetime" also has profound political significance, helping the locality to create momentum for breakthroughs in experimenting with low-level economic models, contributing to promoting Dien Bien province to develop more and more in a green and sustainable direction.
