On the morning of November 7, the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) held an urgent meeting, mobilizing all its efforts to fix the problem, setting a basic goal of restoring power to the entire area in the next 3 days.
According to updated statistics up to 7am the same day, storm Kalmaegi caused 31 incidents on the 110kV grid, causing power outages at 17 110kV transformer stations in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces, along with hundreds of power poles and power lines falling down. Trees broke and blocked the road, causing widespread flooding, making it difficult to approach the scene.
In medium voltage power supply, EVNCPC recorded 427 incidents and dismissals of power lines, causing more than 1.6 million customers to lose power, accounting for about 26% of all EVNCPC customers. The heaviest damage was concentrated in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces.
Immediately after the storm, Power companies urgently inspected the system, making efforts to restore it to more than 315,000 customers, equivalent to 3,674 distribution transformer stations.
The remaining 1.29 million customers are being processed, the most serious of which is Gia Lai Power Company with 678,995 customers without power (69.54%) and Dak Lak Power Company with 324,928 customers (34.30%).
In that situation, the Corporation mobilized more than 1,300 officers and employees, including on-site forces and shock forces from Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa Power Companies, Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, Central Power Services Company and Central Power Experience Company Limited. The units brought specialized vehicles, generators, construction materials and equipment, ready to supply.
Mr. Ngo Tan Cu - General Director of EVNCPC set a target that by November 7, the central areas of communes and wards will have power again, and in the next 3 days, the power supply will be basically restored to the entire Central - Central Highlands region.
