According to the report of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC), as of the afternoon of October 29, the whole Corporation had 492 flood incidents, of which 125 cases had been restored.
Currently, there are 444,335 customers without power, accounting for 8.99% of EVNCPC's total customers and 18.82% of customers of four Power Companies including Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai and Quang Tri.
The entire region has 3,749 distribution transformer stations that have been suspended, accounting for 6.52% of EVNCPC's total stations, with an estimated loss of capacity of about 252.6 MW, equivalent to 6.93% of the maximum capacity of the Corporation (Pmax = 3,646 MW).
Of which, Da Nang Power Company was the most severely affected unit, with 230,899 customers (26.34%) and 2,045 transformer stations (19.9%) without power.
Thua Thien Hue Power Company still has 180,001 customers (52.4%) and 1,283 transformer stations (42.23%) that have stopped operating.
Quang Ngai Power Company has 30,055 customers (4.86%) and 414 transformer stations (6.47%) affected.Meanwhile, Quang Tri Power Company only has 240 customers and 7 transformer stations in Trieu Phong commune that have not had power back.
Mainly in areas with power outages is due to the electricity industry proactively cutting off electricity to ensure the safety of people and electrical equipment in deeply flooded areas with high risks of insecurity.
On the afternoon of October 29, the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) held an urgent meeting chaired by General Director Ngo Tan Cu to assess the impact and direct the work of responding to and overcoming power incidents, restoring safe power supply to people.
Mr. Ngo Tan Cu requested units to maintain 24/7 duty, mobilize maximum human resources, vehicles and materials, proactively handle incidents, restore power as soon as the water recedes and safety conditions are guaranteed.
EVNCPC's specialized departments are required to urgently distribute spare materials such as transformers, meters, conductors, cutting equipment...to units that have suffered heavy damage, especially Hue and Da Nang, to proactively restore the system as soon as the water recedes.
Requesting Power Companies and Power Services Companies in the Central region to arrange 50 officers, workers and 2 electricity testing teams of the Central Power Experience Company Limited to be ready to support and assist localities with heavy damage in repairing the power grid and restoring power supply to customers after floods.
