As the main road connecting National Highway 2 with the center of Phu Tho town in the past, Hung Vuong road is more than 8km long, passing through Au Co ward, Phu Tho ward and Phong Chau ward.
The Hung Vuong road section from Phu Tho ward through Phu Ha industrial park to the intersection with provincial road 320 (Phong Chau ward) - more than 4km long - has been invested and upgraded by Phu Tho town to be spacious and modern.
The roadbed width is 35m (people often call it road 35), in which the above-mentioned section has been asphalted, sidewalks paved, trees planted, and lighting systems installed.
The remaining section of nearly 1km long from National Highway 2 to the intersection with provincial road 320, belonging to Phong Chau ward, with the road surface still being cement concrete, has been old and degraded for many years.
From October 14, 2024, the old Phu Tho Town People's Committee approved the investment policy for the project to upgrade and renovate Hung Vuong road section from provincial road 320B to National Highway 2.
After the two-level local government model went into operation, the project was transferred to Phong Chau Ward People's Committee for implementation. The total investment of the project is more than 47 billion VND.
By the end of 2025, Package No. 07: Construction and installation of the project has completed the contractor selection and started construction to date (winning bid price of nearly 41 billion VND).
According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper in the last days of July 2026, after more than half a year of construction, the project has completed many items, bringing a new look to this main road.
It can be seen that the drainage system has been renovated, the sidewalks have been paved with bricks, trees have been planted, and the lighting system has also been installed... In particular, the section of the route is being asphalted.
Mr. Vu Dinh Thinh - a resident of Phong Chau ward shared: "The road section after being renovated and upgraded with road surface and sidewalk will be as beautiful as the section from Phu Ha industrial park to the town center before, the urban face will become more and more spacious and modern".
According to the design, the project will construct a road length of 997.15m according to the road level, which is the main road of the area, along with a drainage system and other auxiliary works. The road section has a roadbed width of 35m, a road surface of 21m, a median strip of 3m, and a sidewalk width of 3.3m on each side.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on the morning of July 25, Mr. Thieu Quang Cong - Director of Phong Chau Ward Project Management Board said that with the completed volume up to now, the project is being constructed ahead of schedule ( deadline ends in 2026).
After completing the sidewalk, green trees, and lighting, the contractor is continuing to complete the asphalt concrete pavement of the road surface, and then will construct the traffic safety system (traffic signs, painted road markings)" - Mr. Cong shared.
Previously, during the process of Phong Chau ward propagating and mobilizing site clearance to implement the project, households proactively dismantled violating works on the sidewalk corridor, handed over the site early to the construction contractor, contributing to accelerating the project progress.
