The particularly serious traffic accident occurred in the early morning of July 17 on the Phap Van - Cau Gie highway, passing through Chuong Duong commune, killing 4 people and injuring 28 others. Currently, functional agencies are urgently investigating and clarifying the cause of the incident.
According to initial information, at about 0:15 on July 17, a sleeper bus with license plate 20C-172. XX driven by driver Nguyen Van B. (born in 1983, residing in Khai Son commune, Thai Nguyen province) was traveling in the direction of Nghe An - Hanoi on the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.
When reaching Km197+900, the section passing through the Ha Vy underpass area, Chuong Duong commune, the car suddenly lost control, rushed to the right, crashed into the guardrail and protective railing before falling into the residential road below from a height of about 4m.
At the time of the accident, there were a total of 32 people in the car, including the driver. This is a tourist group returning from Ha Tinh to their hometown, all from Phu Binh commune, Thai Nguyen province.
The accident killed 4 people, including 3 victims who died on the spot and 1 person who died after being taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. In addition, 28 others were injured and transferred to treatment at the General Hospital of Agriculture, Thuong Tin General Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Traffic Police force and functional units quickly arrived at the scene to organize rescue, traffic diversion and conduct an examination.
Records at the scene show that the guardrail on the highway was broken by the passenger car, many fragments were thrown onto the service road below. The sleeper bus was heavily damaged after falling from a height of about 3.5-4.2m.
Initial inspection results determined that the driver did not violate regulations on alcohol concentration and drug substances. As of the morning of July 17, functional forces were still urgently examining the scene and collecting documents to clarify the cause of the accident.

Through the incident, functional agencies recommend that vehicle drivers when traveling on highways should strictly comply with speed regulations, maintain a safe distance, focus on observation and ensure health, especially for long-distance passenger car drivers.
In addition, transport businesses need to regularly check the technical condition of vehicles before each trip, especially the braking system, tires, steering wheel and headlights.
Passengers are also advised to fasten seat belts (if the vehicle is equipped), sit in the correct position and follow safety instructions throughout the journey.
