Expanding Phu My bridge to at least 8 lanes
According to the proposal, Phu My bridge will be expanded from 6 to a minimum of 8 lanes with a total investment of about 5,350 billion VND.
The upgrade not only contributes to reducing congestion in the Cat Lai port gateway area but also increases the exploitation capacity of Ring Road 2, supports traffic diversion and reduces pressure on the inner city area.

Phu My bridge spans the Saigon River, connecting Phu Thuan and Cat Lai wards on Ring Road 2. The project was put into operation in 2009, more than 2 km long with 6 lanes and is the first cable-stayed bridge of Ho Chi Minh City.
After more than 15 years of use, the bridge often falls into a state of overload, especially during peak hours when the number of container trucks entering and leaving Cat Lai port increases.
Vo Chi Cong street expanded to 12 lanes
Vo Chi Cong Street (section from Phu My bridge to Phu Huu bridge) is about 8.3 km long, will be expanded to 67 m, accommodating 12 lanes, with a total investment of nearly 5,500 billion VND.

This is one of the arterial routes of Ring Road 2, connecting the Eastern port cluster with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
However, the road surface currently has only 6 lanes, so it is often congested, especially when the number of container trucks increases.
Expanding Nguyen Thi Dinh street
Nguyen Thi Dinh street, the section from My Thuy intersection to Cat Lai ferry, is about 1.6 km long, but every day there are more than 20,000 cars, mainly container trucks, circulating in and out of Cat Lai port.
In addition, the route also serves a large number of vehicles connecting with Cat Lai ferry to Nhon Trach (Dong Nai), while the existing road surface is only from 4-6 lanes, so it is often overloaded.

The Department of Construction proposed to expand the road to 60 m, with a scale of 10 - 12 lanes, with a total capital of about 2,600 billion VND.
The upgrading of the road is also considered necessary to synchronize with the Cat Lai bridge project being prepared for implementation.
Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road
The Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road project has a total investment of about 8.782 billion VND, which is the project with the largest capital scale in this group of projects.
The road is about 6 km long, 60 m wide, with a scale of 12 lanes, connecting from Nguyen Thi Dinh street to the intersection between the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and Ring Road 3.
On the construction route of Ba Cua bridge, there are two units with a total of 10 lanes; the section from Phu Huu port to Ring Road 3 intersection is an elevated road with 4 lanes.

According to the plan, the project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed by the end of 2028.
When put into operation, the route will shorten cargo transportation time, improve connectivity with the seaport system, and reduce pressure on Nguyen Thi Dinh, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Hanoi Highway and Ring Road 2 East area.
Eliminating "black spots" on Nguyen Duy Trinh street
The project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Duy Trinh road (section from Ring Road 2 to the road to Phu Huu Industrial Park) has a total capital of more than 1,858 billion VND from the city budget.
The road, about 1.6 km long, will be expanded from 7 m to 30 m, meeting 6 lanes. The project is expected to start construction at the end of 2026 and be completed in 2028.

Nguyen Duy Trinh road is an important transport route connecting Phu Huu Industrial Park, Phu Huu port with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
However, due to the narrow road surface while container trucks circulate densely, the road often experiences congestion and traffic accidents, once likened by people to a "road of death".
After completion, the project is expected to significantly improve traffic capacity, improve traffic safety and increase connectivity in the eastern area of the city.
