On March 20, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department said that the Vietnam Engineering Team No. 3 is organizing a drill on a situation handling plan to ensure security and safety for people and vehicles operating in the UNISFA Mission area, Abyei area (land between Sudan and South Sudan).
This move comes as more and more cases of UN staff being robbed by armed and unidentified subjects while on duty at the UNISFA Mission in the Abyei region have been reported.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Hao - Captain of the 3rd Engineering Team - informed that training helps improve situation handling skills, minimizing risks, especially when the engineering force often performs tasks outside the base.

Based on closely following the unit's tasks, leadership principles, commands and documents on the Principles of the Use of Force at the mission, the unit has organized a dissemination of the content, practiced handling situations close to reality.
Through the training process, officers and employees have a deeper awareness of the risks affecting security and safety, especially in field tasks.
Captain Do Thu Trang, Captain of the Guard - who directly participated in the squad of the force on duty outside the base - said that in addition to raising awareness of the importance of training, officers and employees also grasp the principle of using force.
Accordingly, they are not allowed to cause excessive aggression or hostility, but must prioritize peaceful measures to ensure absolute safety.
